DEEP Recertification Process

DEEP™ trainers are first certified after a successful training for an initial three (3) year period.

During the initial three (3) year certification period, each trainer is expected to conduct a required amount of workshops. At the end of the initial three (3) year certification period, DEEP™ trainers can renew their certification if they wish to continue teaching DEEP™. They can renew for one (1), two (2) or three (3) years.

If a trainer does not conduct the required training workshops, they will need to attend another training workshop in order to re-certify.

At the end of the initial three (3) year certification period, DEEP™ trainers and/or their leadership will need to complete and return a Recertification Application, Recertification Attachment A and fee(s).

To be re-certified without attending a second DEEP™ workshop, Certified Senior Trainers, Certified Lead Trainers, and Certified Peer Educators must meet the following minimum requirements:

a. CERTIFIED SENIOR TRAINERS: Must conduct at least two (2) workshops for Lead Trainer candidates and one (1) workshop for Peer Educator candidates over three years and submit a request for recertification along with the appropriate fee. At least one of these workshops must occur in the last twelve (12) months before applying for re-certification.

b. CERTIFIED LEAD TRAINERS: Must serve as the primary or co-facilitator in at least four (4) Peer Educator workshops in the three (3) year certification period. At least one (1) of those workshops must occur in the last twelve (12) months before applying for re-certification.

c. CERTIFIED PEER EDUCATORS: Must serve as the primary or co-facilitator in at least five (5) DEEP™ workshops or facilitate workshops for a total of 50 patients in the three (3) years following certification. At least one of these workshops must occur in the last twelve (12) months before applying for re-certification. Certified Peer Educators or the organizations which employ them (or with which they are affiliated) must submit lists of entities for which they conducted workshops, number of attendees, and dates of the workshops along with a request for recertification and the appropriate fee. These lists may be submitted quarterly, semiannually, annually, or at the end of the three (3) year period.
